Male Victims

Male Victims

While research and statistics show that the majority of domestic abuse is perpetrated by men against women, it is also acknowledged that men can experience abuse from their female partners and in same sex relationships.

It can be difficult for men to acknowledge they are experiencing domestic abuse and the stigma and shame attached to the issue can be a huge barrier in accessing support.

Most of Foyle Women’s Aid’s services are for women but most of the information on this site is relevant to anyone experiencing abuse. We will respond to any inquiry for help and will signpost male victims to relevant services.

The 24 Hour Domestic and Sexual Violence Helpline on 0808 802 1414 – will also be able to help anyone in need of help and advice.
