DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL ABUSE ADVOCACY SERVICE

A new and exciting partnership between three agencies (Belfast and Lisburn Women’s Aid, Foyle Family Justice Centre and the Men’s Advisory Project) has been set up to deliver an innovative Northern Ireland-wide advocacy service to support qualifying victims of domestic and sexual violence and abuse. The service is available to all qualifying victims, regardless of religious belief, political opinion, racial group, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender, disability or dependants.

The overall purpose of the service is to provide coordinated and tailored support, responsive to individual needs, in partnership with well-established services. This service has been jointly commissioned by the Department of Justice and the PSNI.

We are seeking to recruit the following posts:

Job Title:        Advocate (20 posts)                                                          A05/21

Located in PSNI stations throughout NI and the Rowan Sexual Assault Referral Centre. Locations are listed with the application information.

As an Advocate, you will provide a high-quality support service to qualifying victims of domestic and sexual violence and abuse. You will receive and follow up referrals, develop safety and support plans, work to reduce risk, and make referrals to other appropriate agencies. You will also support victims through the Criminal Justice System.

For these posts, we are looking for individuals with previous experience of providing support to those in crisis. You will have an understanding of the dynamics, impact and scale of domestic and sexual violence and abuse. There will be a work pattern reflective of demand, requiring you to work some late shifts, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

The salary for these posts is £22,183 per annum.

These are 3-year fixed-term posts that may be extended.

Finance Administrator

Foyle Women’s Aid is the lead agency offering a specialist domestic violence support service in the Foyle Trust area. We offer a range of outreach services and secure supported accommodation for women and children. The work is underpinned by an ethos of self-help and mutual support.

Foyle Women’s Aid is going through a period of change and growth, with the planning and development of the Foyle Family Justice Centre. The Finance Administrator post represents the need for a broad mix of finance and administrative skills, with strong business acumen.

The Finance Administrator will assist the Financial Controller in the day-to-day running of the Finance Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Finance:

  • Maintain and record transactions on Sage 50 Accounts ledgers
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Maintain and record petty cash transactions on Sage 50 Accounts system
  • Payment of outstanding invoices (by cheque/BACS), ensuring receipts are received for each item of expenditure and are properly filed
  • Input invoices/payments onto Sage 50 Accounts system
  • Record monies received by cash/cheque and make lodgements to bank
  • Record cash/cheques received onto Sage Accounts 50 system
  • Maintain NIHE rent and service charge accounts (invoicing and payments) for all service users and input into Sage Accounts 50 system
  • Liaise with NIHE Area office regarding queries of Housing Benefit payments as required
  • Assist with the financial monitoring of funded projects within the organisation
  • Assist with the completion and evidencing of financial returns to funding bodies
  • Liaise with statutory auditors on an ad-hoc basis as required

 

Secretarial Duties:

  • Assist with ordering of goods and services within the Organisation
  • Maintain stock of accommodation units and offices within the Organisation
  • Assist in recording and maintaining project/organisational statistical information
  • Assist in the administration and recording of recruitment information

 

Essential Criteria

  • Possession of an Accounting Technician qualification or equivalent
  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience in the provision of office/administration support
  • At least 2 years’ Finance experience, including:
    • Maintenance of financial records
    • Processing of income and expenditure
    • Preparation and analysis of budgets
  • Experience in the use of accounting software, e.g. Sage 50 Accounts
  • Competence in MS Office and report-writing
  • Possess good organisational skills, ability to perform tasks and prioritise work
  • A good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, making sure tasks are clearly

understood and taking personal responsibility for dealing with queries

  • Provide attention to detail and the personal motivation to perform your role to the highest standards

 

Desirable Criteria

  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in the provision of relevant office/administration support
  • At least 3 years’ Finance experience, including the maintenance of financial records, the processing of income and expenditure, and the preparation and analysis of budgets
  • Experience of writing funding applications

 

A full driving licence and use of a car are also essential for business purposes. You will also be subject to an Enhanced Access NI Check and you may, on occasion, be required to work unsocial hours, including evening and weekend work.

Job Title:        Project Manager (based in Belfast)                    PM04/21

The Project Manager will lead in the planning and development of the project, in line with the client’s requirements from the tender specification, delivering a premium service to qualifying victims of domestic and sexual violence and abuse.

For this post, we are looking for someone who has significant experience of working in the domestic and sexual violence and abuse sector, combined with project management knowledge and experience.  They will have experience of supporting and managing a team to deliver project outcomes.

The salary for this post will be £39,880 per annum.

This is a full-time, 3-year fixed-term post that may be extended.

(located in PPUs in Belfast, Derry City, Ballymoney and Portadown)

The Lead Advocates will the first point of contact for all referrals into the project and will be responsible for assessing risk, allocating referrals and monitoring progress. They will provide support and guidance to a team of Advocates.

For these posts, we are looking for individuals with previous experience of providing a direct service to domestic and sexual violence and abuse victims. They will have an understanding of the dynamics, impact and scale of domestic and sexual violence and abuse, and have the ability to provide direction and motivation to a team. We also require flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

The salary for these posts is £27,741 per annum.
