Women’s Aid is the lead agency offering advice, accommodation and support to women and children experiencing domestic violence in Northern Ireland. This post is funded by Supporting People.

 Post Overview: –

The post-holder will assist with Foyle Women’s Aid accommodation admissions within our residential settings and will provide practical support for clients, ensuring that our services are comfortable, welcoming, supportive and a safe place to live, whilst establishing and maintaining positive relationships.

Essential Criteria includes: –

  • At least 1 year’s relevant experience in working with young people or vulnerable adults in a paid capacity

Demonstrate experience in the following: –

  • Reception or administration duties
  • Conducting health and safety checks
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office and in report-writing

Desirable Criteria: –

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience in working with young people or vulnerable adults in a paid capacity
  • At least an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrate experience of working in a residential setting

The successful applicant must also be required to:

  • Possess a full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes
  • Complete and pass the Enhanced Access NI Check
  • Work evenings and weekends on a weekly basis as part of the rota
  • Travel to more than one site will be required to fulfil the demands of this post

You will have proven ability to work flexibly as part of a team and to take responsibility for your own work with minimum supervision, possess good organisational and administrative skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, whilst having the capacity to handle pressure and be adaptable to changing demands.

We offer a range of outreach services and secure supported accommodation for women and children. The work is underpinned by an ethos of self-help and mutual support. The posts are funded by Supporting People.

  • Possess at least 1 year’s relevant practical experience in a Support Worker role, working with vulnerable families with complex needs or homelessness and managing case work
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of domestic and sexual abuse on women and families, and the appropriate interventions
  • Competence in use of Microsoft Office and report-writing
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Desirable Criteria

  • Possess at least 2 years’ relevant practical experience in a Support Worker role, working with vulnerable families with complex needs or homelessness and managing case work
  • Demonstrate experience of working in an interagency setting and as part of a team, with a working knowledge of statutory and voluntary services available for women and children, and the skills required to provide a coordinated service

A full driving licence and use of a car is also essential for business purposes. You will also be subject to an Enhanced Access NI Check and will be required to work unsocial hours, including evening and weekend work.

 Post Overview:

The Referrals & Intake Coordinator serves as the initial representative and point of contact for clients seeking services. The post-holder is responsible for coordinating and recording incoming referrals for residential, community support, criminal justice and court support. The allocation of duties within the post will be interchangeable as required to meet business needs.

Essential Criteria includes:

  • Possess a third-level qualification
  • Awareness of vulnerable families and a good understanding of the issues they encounter
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, verbal and written
  • Active listening skills
  • Organised, efficient and detail-orientated
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Empathy and understanding
  • Capacity to handle pressure and deal with people in crisis
  • Work flexibly as part of a team

Demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ strong administrative experience
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people
  • Experience of coordinating social media

Desirable Criteria:

  • Possess a third-level degree in a related relevant discipline
  • Experience of working within domestic violence services
  • Experience of collating statistical information and reports
  • Experience of using triage systems
  • Knowledge of current legislation when working with vulnerable people or domestic violence

The successful applicant will also be required to:
